Steampunk Gear carved glass by ImaginedGlass Steampunk Gear carved glass by ImaginedGlass
You can sense the real movement of this steampunk inspired piece. Gears turning and opening a vault of inspirations. This is a 4" x 4" x 1/4" thick clear glass coaster. I've deep carved and shaded it on the back and flat frosted it on the front.

You can buy it through my Art Fire shop or just have a closer look:

This is looks incredible, so you sand basted the front and the back of the glass so it looks like it has a layered effect? Amazing, I'll need to try that some time.

Also what do you mean by "flat frosted" the front?

Yes, it's carved deep including a flat and shaded 'frost' on the back side. When I say flat frost I mean it's blasted evenly in one tone on the surface at the point where it has no clear but is not yet going deep into any carving effect, some say surface blast to distinguish the depth of a blast.

It's a mix of free vectors, manipulations, from scratch. The key pattern I plotted out, but it's a pattern that's been around forever. The screws are pretty simple. It's all done in Corel. The other paperweight piece [link] I designed all the main elements. The layout, depths, and how I did it in technique (using both sides of the glass) that was more the focus for me in this piece. I have a design started for a more intricate piece that I hope will be pretty stunning if it turns out how I see it...It'll be a while though.

lovely! But I must ask, where did you get the gear designs?

Etched glass is cool, but carved glass seems amazing!
